![]() ![]() A friend contacted me to find out about that “fabulous” electronic Murphy Bed I had in my apartment. Since it was New York, I had received a lofty sum that allowed me to take my time in deciding the next phase of my career. I had decided to relocate to Miami and was already in contract to sell my beautifully renovated apartment. There was no established distribution in the US or Canada.įlash forward to 2005. ![]() While it was ideal for what I needed, I soon found that I had to order it directly from Germany, and figure out the cabinetry on my own. It was an “Aha!” moment, and I immediately knew it would work perfectly for my new space (though I never dreamed I would someday be selling it!). Way in the back of this convention center there was a cabinet maker who was showing the remote controlled, retractable Zoom=Bed (at that time known by its European name – “Belitec”). At the time, I was planning to combine my apartment in NYC with the next door studio, To amuse myself (my nephew was in class) I popped into one of those design shows that happened to be on to see if I could get any new ideas. In the late 90’s, I took a trip to Montreal to visit my nephew who was attending McGill University. I’ve had a long and varied career that includes a five year stint at the United Nations and 23 years on Wall Street, with a small detour to get my MBA at NYU.
